Aster had a lesson on Saturday with Seymour. He has been a bit out of sorts lately and very lazy when schooling. He has never been very forward and always hard work but to use the instructors words he looks sour. He is not being over schooled but is so reluctant to give you anything and just looks depressed. Could it be the time of year? No grass etc. We cant take him hunting or jumping because of an old injury any other suggestions to liven him up a bit. ?

Explosives? lol.
What's he like hacking? Could you not find a different area to school him on - like in a field rather than a menage. I don't really know what to suggest

poor Seymour maybe he needs a holiday. I think they are all getting fed up its either making them naughty or switched off.

what about a toy, for when he's in the stable? ours have decahydrans (sp) they play with then for hours. Or if in the field get an old traffic cone put carrots and hay in it that will keep him occupied while he's out. Not forgetting lots of TLC

Personally if he was mine I would forget schooling for a bit and enjoy some hacking.. Try and find a nice flat field whilst you are out and do a bit of work there...
Boo hates going in the school so to be honest I don't bother as she is such a pain, I school her hacking out you would be surprised what you can do on a hack ! She has never got on with the surfaces in the school no idea why, and its not just ours at home she works better on grass always has..... Suppose its the spoilt brat in her that lets her get away with being mardy in the school though - she is the same at indoor shows !

I take it you are 100% happy with his health. In which case I agree with the others. Happy hacking, good grooming and plenty of succulents in his feed and.... ROLL ON THE SUNSHINE!

Thanks for all the advice. Boo sounds just like Seymour! Aster was going to show him this weekend but there is a long boring wait between classes so going to take him to a friends with some good off road hacking and have a bit of fun. I agree with you MrsP lets have some sunshine makes us all feel better

i would say get him some D-Tox ......... and give 1/4 of a tub over four feeds ....... it works a treat ...........NAF ...... costs about 10 or 11 pounds..... but it gets rid of all rubbish in system ...... that might be making him(sore) lethargic ..... try it it can't hurt ....
