Surely they can't charge you for an operation that had to be done because of there negligence. Lets hope it heals up without to much scarring. It has really upset me to think one so young has had to go through so much.

Sorry to hear your news bev, but i think SL is right - if the vet made a mistake, surely it should be them that pays not you.
Not that that would make you feel a lot better about poor Ted i'm sure. Sending lots of get well vibes x

Luckily i'm insured but I dont know weather I should tell the insurance Co what is going on Joh has spoken to the partners at the vets (i'm too upset to speak to them) and he the vet in question has admitted it was his fault but the insurance co that covers vets has said "it was a complication of the operation" a legal way to get out of it! And if we sue them they wont treat Ted but if we dont they will treat him and reduce my bill! We are asking legal advice on monday to see where we stand they are trying to frighten us off but John has said that Ted will be scarred although its all cosmetic he wont be able to be shown and is therefore not able to be used for the purpose he was bought for but out of all of it its poor Ted that has had unnecessary surgery. Its probably going to get messy before anything is sorted out but if anyone has any sound advise we could do with it I know every case is individual but it has definately shocked us. Ted is fine within himself bright and eating like the proverbial horse, I took him out to graze this morning and hopefully he will be able to come home early part of next week.

Problem is thats the way insurance companies try to frighten you to get out of paying out. Wait and see how the scar heals, I saw in HH this week a horse that had, had surgery and the scarring was hardly noticeable. (There were pictures). MUst go and bring the boys in now.

OMG Bev I have just caught up on this story and I am just horrified for you all. I just hope he is OK and I am disgusted with the way your vets have handled it so far. Good luck with your legal advice. X

OMG Bev i feel absolutely gutted for Ted and yourselves, this is just horrible, I would be so so angry...........how darn cheekey of the vets to reduce your bill.....they should be paying for the whole bloody lot IMO, i certainly would'nt end this without a huge fight, and on top of all that they said they still want to treat him, i personally would tell them to go play under the cars on the M60 and would'nt trust them again.......but thats me...i always jump before i look I know you said Ted is doing fine and is eating etc, but to be honest i find it terribly unfair that he had to go through this second op because of people who we put are whole trust in to fix/mend/save our beloved horses. Lots and lots love and hugs to all of you.....
