Anyone know a good prevention method?? Bonnie usually starts to get it think time of year and weve never found anything good to get rid of it but we always forget to find some prevention method.
any Ideas?? xxxx

I've got udder cream but not used it yet,
Ive got one at the yard that does work but can't think of the name, will have a look tomorrow

We have always used Keratex powder on all the horses we have had and find it works very well. We have'nt ever had any problems with it , it waterproofs the heels and use it once a week.

we dont get Mud fever over here!! But, Sisters old chestnut Flashy did in the UK. Farmers Udder creams menat to be better stuff

well so far she has had none!! usually shes got it bad this time...so touch wood its gunna be fine, the only thing ive done is wash her legs every few week and put the mud sheild powder on

I use sudocrem on Paddy, its cheap and it works ;D

pig oil and flowers of sulphur is great for mud fever (treatment and preventative) and most if not all skin conditions.
brilliant stuff, we used it on a cob who had sweetitch and he stopped itching over night.
messy stuff though!

pig oil and sulfur, or sulfur on its own well rubbed in or one my own mixes i use for everything from a cut, to sunburn, to kicks to mudfever if sudocream mixed with sulfur and applied , just makes the area yellow but does not stain forever
