I hope no one minds me posting this here, since this is a showing board, but my little sister would like some tips and advise in jumping a one phase course (when you jump 6 jumps normal, then 6 'jump off style' straight after without stopping). Niether of us have done a course like this before.

What sort of advice? It's just the same as two phase, except there's no waiting around! If she goes clear over the first part of the course, she goes straight over the second (without circling etc, just carrying on), so she'll have to walk the whole long course before she starts and if she's going for a fast time, go as fast as she can over the second part of the course, but she can go at whatever speed she wants to over the first part of the course.

i find it helps if you horse doesn't knock the jumps down! lol sorry couldn't resist, im not a showjumper...yet but i guess good panning will help- dont just plan "jump 1 then 2 then 3 e.c.t if she is anything like me she will HAVE to plan for misbehaviour to, like i have to watch for where people are standing because ill need to concentrate so Norm doesnt run out. or when i walk the course i take note of small gaps that he might go for and large ones for circling-this is more for confidence, if you plan every possibility then its easier to control when things do happen
