My daughter has done wonders this year with our happy hack 15hh anglo arab, she has brought her on in leaps n bounds, she won a 1st in introduction to showing and a 2nd in best riding club horse, even taken her in beginners jumping gaining a 3rd place. Now she wants to try WHP, i am concerned it would be an inappropirate class for her (the hoss) Kim (my daughter) is adament she wants to try it.....do i say No or do i let her do a few beginners classes over the winter at the indoor season? Torn cos i don't know that much about the showing side of things can anglo arabs be classed as working hunters or is it your more stockier types....we live for jumping lol...below hoss in question Thanks in advance

Definately give them a go. She will be on the lighter side, but it is so much a performance class that the jumping and way of going is much more important than type and conformation. At affiliated level (and some unaffiliated shows) a marks system is used where 40-70% of the marks are for jumping, 10-30% for performance on the flat and 10-20% for conformation and type (percentages depend on the society). She'll have to invest in a tweed jacket if she doesn't have one already though

Fantastic, thanks a lot Bev and Cubic, I think what Kim is thinking is that she's got the hoss jumping and doing equitation/flatwork so she wants to put them together and has come up with WHP, i think we'll let her have a go, just did'nt want to be laughed out of the ring if you get me..... Thanks again.......but not for the fact that i'm off to buy a tweed jacket ha ha please tell me she's ok to wear a blue hat with the tweed jacket.......

Blue hat is ideal with a tweed jacket.
She can do inhand classes in tweed too, if you want to get your money's worth!
