Have read in other places that Avon , skin so soft is good for getting rid of midges, have brought some and squirted it on one of the girls at the yard, and she was then left alone, so it seems effective. For flies am using Lincoln, only tried it today and it seemed ok.

You are right Bev, the midges this evening have been absolutely terrible - and Wiggles big boy is really suffering, despite his fly rug. We use coopers fly spray - it is expensive but seems to be the only thing that has any impact. Will definately give the Avon stuff a try though.

Just been on the Avon website - is it the oil moisturiser you are talking about Squonk?

I've found Mark Todd fly spray is good, gets rid of midges, bots, flies etc. Also feed garlic which seems to work. Will try the Avon though.

Am using the dry oil spray, its in a pale green bottle, but have read that you can buy the bubble bath, dilute it with other homley remedies to create a fly spray. It does tend to smell a bit girlie, but it seems to keep the little blighters away.

bonnie is fed garlic but im not sure if it makes a difference
if your annoyed you cant use citronella anymore then get the naffoff show shine because that has citronella in it and works really well to keep the flys away,
bonnie has a grotty old mask and i need to buy a new one!
she used to have sudacreme in her ears to keep the flies out, that worked but i stopped because it was very attractive
