Hi Everyone, advice needed please! Up until now we have always shown Breeze in her natural state (just locally, she is too croup high to do anything else!) and we have been regularly placed with her. For the last show we did my fabulous friend who helps me was determined to plait her up and she did very well. We tend to do lead rein, novice pony, equitation and the M&M classes. I read recently that I should be plaiting up for anything other than M&M's, so now I am fretting. Do I pull her mane and trim her feathers off, and if I go that route can I still turn her out in a hunter bridle with Shaun in tweed? Oh the finer points of showing..... This is her with Jasmine, its a couple of years old but it gives you a good idea of her (please excuse me - the judge decided as we entered the ring that she had to be led). This is her on her last outing with Shaun. It looks like I will get penalised either way, so if we trim her up I lose out on the M&Ms but if I dont do I get put down in the other type? What would you do?

unless you do anything with a specific breed at local level i would leave her unplated because you can see shes a m&m. hope that helps but there's probably going to be some better advise coming!
oh when she gets to pony club camp they have to be plated on the last day even the most hairest of ponies do, but dont worry about that because we're all very good at coping with that now!

well mini camp ive never been to so probs dont have to plat up but at main camp on the very last day when theres the showjumping and whatever els they put on for parents, everybody is plated up even those with pulled tails and the hairy besties like the fell that was next to bonnie, even the arabs were. but there all the older people like me who spend all morning plating up for the little ones! so dont worry about that xx

I think mini camp is a bit less high powered than the main camp!
Yes Sarah, she is a fully registered Section A, by Swinford Daffyd, if I remember correctly. I also think she makes a super SHP but those classes seem to be less common than the other classes. If I go that route and then I want to put her in a lead rein or equitation class do I need to have a navy jacket and coloured browband, or am I still correct in the tweed/hunter bridle? Please bear in mind Shauns new tweed has just cost me a small fortune from Mrs Candy.......................

She's lovely. If I were you I'd thin the mane slightly (but not shorten it) so it will make chunky but not too chunky plaits, and tidy her tail slightly at the top. You can then show her as a native in m&m classes, or a show hunter pony (smooth her feathers down with hair gel). For me she is more of a native type (and mostly you can do other classes as an m&m), but it gives you more options and often section As do look very smart plaited in non-m&m classes.

Thanks Cubic, hadn't thought of the hair gel trick! And she is 11.1hh, forgot to answer that one earlier, sorry Sarah.
