Ok, so it's me and Ed's first proper show together, and I'm used to bathing and preparing a native coloured cob, so a pony for Riding Pony & Pony Club Pony, is a little different.
Does anyone have any tips in order to really catch my judge's eye. It's only a local unaffiliated show, but I would really like to let them know that me & Ed are business! Haha. : )
Picture of Ed..
It's the most recent, (2 days ago), picture I have of him, and I think it shows him off nicely.
His mane & tail will be plaited, ofcourse.
Should I put a black numnah on, which is very discreet under his saddle? He doesn't feel comfortable without a pad or numnah.
Any tips, etc. will be appreciated. : )

what colour is your tack? if black then black numnah if brown then brown numnah but as long and its small and descrete. im guessing you will put show sheen on but i put extra on bonnies legs on the black bits which i think just shows them off a little more! you just have to remember that when your in the ring keep your own space espesh when your infrount of the judge and try not to go next to the people you think might beat you. keep your show short and make sure you listen to everything the judge says, be nice and polite and make d**n sure you smile at the end of your show!

And most important of all, wherever you are in the line up thank the judge, remember they only get paid petrol money and it costs nothing to say thank you.

What a fabby colour ed is! make the most of it. On his black point.. (legs).. use Baby oil to highlight them especially knees & hocks. quarter marks & sharks teeth for his rear end make sure his forelock plait is a french plait not a ball... and tuck it under the BB For you.. hacking jacket & matching hat, with tie that goes with it (if plain browband) if you have a fancy BB then the tie to match short boots if he's a pone or more horse like then long boots. (sorry don't know how big he is) jods beige or canery ( I would go for the latter ) If you have long hair, then a pony tail with discreet scrunch (matching the BB / tie combo) make sure you have a pair of gloves ~(as long as they are not bight.. ie.. pink / fluoresent green etc) could do with pics of you in your show gear.. then we can see the general pic and take it from their... keep us posted

Thank you for your tips.
My tack is black, yes. As I do have a discreet black numnah - bought and tested, aswell as a black girth. I have been told about using baby oil on Ed's points, and dark bits. I've read up on a lot of tips on this site and it makes sense to get my own space and not be near the better ponies - if there is any better than Ed.
I am naturally polite *smile* so I usually do thank the judge, and trust me - a smile will be plastered on my face.
How will I do a french plait on his forelock, I pressume it will lead to his poll - how do you get yourself in a good position to do so? Ed can be quite shy around the ears too, but is totally fine with plaiting - I plaited him last week just for a practise.
I have a grey hacking jacket and black hat, my tie is navy - but I might get a black one and my jodhs are ivory. I am wearing long boots as Ed is 14.2hh, and my old show jodphur boots are now used for everyday riding. lol. I am investing in a new pair though.
Again, thanks for the tips. : )

start a french plat from the the top of his poll between the ears and carry on down then finish it like normal, bonnie has a pathetic forlock so you cannot do anything with it! if you cannot french plat it its no problem! xxx

Ah yes, I get it, plait it towards the forehead and finish it off with a normal plait which you then tuck and use a band/thread like normal! Thanks Madamebonnie, I was a little confused. xD
