Noticed on Monday that Paddy's back right(his right) fetlock joint was swollen and slightly warm. Initially put it down to him being stood in - Nelson's back legs do it over winter when he's stabled. It had gone down a bit yesterday after we took him for a walk around, trotted him on the lane and he was sound. It's still up today and he's been in a section of the field, it's not hot but compared to the other side it's warm and still swollen.
It definitely is something since he came home because I would have noticed when I bandaged his legs for him to travel on Saturday and it was ok Monday morning when I creamed his mud fever.
Do you think it's something I should worry about just yet or do you think I should give him a bit longer to walk it off? I've poked and prodded it and it doesn't seem to bother him.
More to the point any suggestions how he did it? He's only gone in the field today and isn't loose with the others. Unless he's rolled in the stable and banged it?

Hi, been in Barcelona so only just got replies.
Mum's been looking after him whilst I've been away and she said the other one does it over night then goes down completely whereas this one only goes down a bit. I'll see if it goes down completely after the mud fever's gone, it nearly has now. If not I'll get the vet to have a look, he needs his jabs restarting anyway

Well went down to see him today bout 4, tied him up whilst I mucked out and he was fidgeting, finished what I was doing and led him out around the village and just as I was leaving the farm I noticed it had completely gone down.
Am wondering if it's just caused by lack of movement in the stable??

Could be ED or he has been tearing round the field.
