If anyone is coming to the Newmarket Charity In-Hand Show on Sunday 23rd August but haven’t got their entries in yet, don’t leave it too late. All pre-entries are guaranteed a commemorative rosette just for entering. All the TBs will receive one from Tattersalls, whilst All Other Breeds will receive one from Rent Right (Horsebox Hire) and/or Lincs Forage.
There are two rings for All Other Breeds, with classes for foals through to veterans. Classes range from Best Turned Out, Best Handler, Best Pairs, through to Hunters, Arabs, M&M’s, Cobs & Traditionals, Coloureds, Childs Pony, Age Groups, Best British and Best Foreign Bred, Local, plus many more. There is even a Consolation class if you don’t happen to be in the placings on the day.
On the Thoroughbred side – there is one ring set aside purely for TBs who can compete in 15 classes – these range from Best Turned Out, Age Groups, TB that have raced, TB that have never raced, Sold through Auction House, Male/Female, British/Foreign Bred, and so on.
All the 1st-6th placings get a lovely rosette to keep, printed with the name of the sponsor on, plus the winners get a trophy to keep and an extra prize.
Throughout the day there are additional awards to be had for many competitors and horses, ranging from Oldest Veteran through to Horse that was sold for the most money. There are extra rosettes for any foals and yearlings entering classes too.
On top of these awards, there are challenge trophies up for grabs too, they range from trophies from Frankie Dettori, Willie Carson, and other Newmarket “names” through to Rossdales Vets, Rent Right (Horsebox Hire), and so on.
There is also a Point Challenge. For every win you get 6 points, down to 6th place for 1 point. You even get ½ point just for entering a class. At the end of the day, tally up your points and the horse with the most points will receive an extra prize. No entry fee for this – you fill in your own form on the day that will be given to you with your competitor number.
With bargain entry fees of only £6.25 per class, entries will fill up quickly so don’t leave it too late to put your entry in.
We have top Panel judges in all the rings, so you can be assured of a fair assessment of your equine friend.
We also have a photographer at this show who will be able to print not only your photos on the day, but can offer you key rings, mugs, etc. with your photos printed on.
We also have a caterer who has a more extensive menu to be able to offer you throughout the day.
The show is set in the grounds of Exning Park (courtesy of Mr Simon Gibson) which is opposite Rossdales Equine Hospital and the whole park is at our disposal, so plenty of room for parking.
This is purely an in-hand show so absolutely no riding once through the entrance. It is a friendly old fashioned showing show where encouragement and support is the order of the day.
The show welcomes the very novice through to the more experienced horse, and from the smallest childs pony suitable to learn to ride on, through to top class show horses.
