I'm hoping the website will go live within a week - one section is for your tips for success. They are provisionally going to be under 3 headings: Turnout, Ringcraft and Misclaneous.
Add your tips to this thread and the best ones will be included on the website. If you'd prefer your real name used to credit you rather than your screen name, write that too!
Thanks
PS. more photos are needed, including head shots.

My tip
Dont buy anything to show which has a significant amount of white hair, you'll spend your entire life covered in chalk powder.

my tip use cheap furnature polish from Nettos on the mane and tail its works as good as Canter but at a fraction of the price! p.s try a little first incase the horse has a reaction but this in not very likely

what lovely pictures. we show and use hair laquer in the mane and tail also if you need to plait up the night before cut a pair of tights up and put a piece of the tight round each plait securing with a band they wont rub the plait out. shoe polish helps cover up leg blemishes too

Use a touch of black boot polish to give definition to the ends of white socks onto black legs. Only use a little or else it will go dull.

The kennel club would have a field day if they were put in charge of horse shows. It amazes me that all these substances are allowed. My dogs have been tested at major shows for dye, lacquer and any other coat altering substance you can think of. !

Use a fork for quarter marks. Egg white for plaits Sheep dye for blemishes. Rub sandpaper on the hooves before adding varnish Don't pull tails. Get someone else to do it. ;D Have the reins shortened for little people. Clip white markings on head so they stand out. Can be done on legs too.

My old one.. Johnsons baby powder on white socks & tails. Any other talc doesn't work For tails .. sprinkle and shake.. sprinkle and shake. Works best on a damp tail, not wet through mind To keep boots clean soles/heels.. use plastic covers (cleaners use them)they are great.
